Student Athlete

Ian said that they were doing a hip hip dance to a song called "I'm a nerd; I'm a geek". But that the song was "not him". I asked what he was. He said "I'm a student athlete."

Can I swear?

Grandma Potts was over for dinner and we were talking about swearing and how our family is proficient in the art of it. Ian asked if he could say a swear. I asked him why and he just shrugged so I said sure just to see what would happen.

With his eyes wide and a big grin on his face he said: "F*^ck! F*^ck! F*^ck! F*^ck! F*^ck! F*^ck! "

Then he laughed so hard, he fell off of his chair.

Sometimes when I think of how lucky I am to not be in Haiti, and think
of all the kids there, I get a pain in my leg and my legs get kind of
shaky.

Turd Fergeson

Erin Potts is both mortified & proud that my son quoted Will Farrell from a SNL skit upon being called to the front of class to read his homework.

[The back story, per Jon's explanation: Well, it was perhaps a bad parenting call on my part, but vol 1 of Best of Will Ferrell on SNL has got a lot of great ones. He was riffing off of the Alex Trebek/Burt Reynolds skit (about minute 3 on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MImESnfUBaU).

When Ian's teacher called on him to read his homework, he said he changed his name to Turd Ferguson, then when Mr. Fewell finally called on him as "Turd Ferguson" he [Ian] just replied "Yeah, waddya want?" At that point, his teacher, who is really great, apparently just started cracking up.
